Made-in-India Dornier 228 comes full circle with Northeast commercial ops launch

Alliance Air is launching commercial services in India's Northeast region using two domestically manufactured Dornier 228 aircraft. This marks a significant milestone as the 19-seater planes represent the first civilian version of this German aircraft to be entirely produced in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. The aircraft is returning to the Northeast after a previous era of service. Vayudoot, a regional airline that operated from 1981 to the early 1990s, previously deployed Do-228s across over 100 Indian airports.
