India's Chandrayaan-3 mission achieved a significant milestone as the Vikram lander successfully detached from the propulsion module. The Lander Module — comprising the Vikram lander and the Pragyan rover — was readied to be lowered into a closer orbit around the Moon's surface.
A soft landing on the Lunar south pole was scheduled for August 23, 2023, setting the stage for India to become the first nation to successfully land on the Moon's south pole.
