The Indian Air Force has moved a proposal to the government for the procurement of 156 more Prachand Light Combat Helicopters as a joint acquisition case with the Army. The proposal is expected to receive approval soon.
The LCH Prachand is slated for deployment along the China and Pakistan borders, where its high-altitude performance has proven critical. 15 aircraft have already been inducted over the previous 15 months, following trials conducted in extreme weather and challenging high-altitude terrain.
