India approves purchase of 70 HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft

India approved procurement of 70 HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft valued at $388.5 million to supplement the existing Swiss-made PC-12 Mark II training fleet.

India's defense leadership has greenlit procurement of 70 domestically-produced HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft valued at $388.5 million. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the Cabinet Committee on Security, presided by PM Narendra Modi, endorsed this acquisition plan. These aircraft will supplement India's existing training fleet of Swiss-made PC-12 Mark II trainers. The Indian Air Force currently operates 260 trainer aircraft against an established need for 388 training platforms.
