AVM Ajit Lamba, who accumulated over 7,000 flying hours and piloted over 100 aircraft types, passed away after battling leukaemia. He commanded ASTE from 1986 to 1991.
Air Vice Marshal Ajit Lamba (Retired), a legendary Indian aviator, passed away after battling leukaemia. He would have celebrated his 85th birthday on January 20, 2021. AVM Lamba had an extraordinary aviation career spanning 65 years—38 years of active service in the Indian Air Force beginning in 1953, followed by 29 years of continued flying post-retirement. He accumulated over 7,000 flying hours during his IAF career and piloted over 100 different aircraft types. AVM Lamba commanded the prestigious Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment between 1986 and 1991.
