HAL's Light Utility Helicopter passes high-alt Himalayan trials

HAL's indigenous Light Utility Helicopter achieved Initial Operational Clearance after successful high-altitude trials in the Himalayas, including operations at Daulat Beg Oldie at 5,000m.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's indigenously developed Light Utility Helicopter demonstrated high-altitude capability during comprehensive testing in the Himalayas. The Army variant achieved Initial Operational Clearance status. Tests at Leh (3,300m elevation) with temperatures reaching ISA+32 degrees C included envelope expansion, performance, and flying qualities assessments. The helicopter took off from Leh and performed hover operations at Daulat Beg Oldie at 5,000m, demonstrated payload capacity over Siachen Glacier, and landed at the highest helipads at Amar and Sonam.
